Whazzup Wasim!

One of the most memorable crewmembers has to be Wasim. Always a cheery guy on shift I will never forget him showing me his method of hanging a cloth or a tray in front of him to conceal “Little Wasim” when he was standing to attention which was very often during the summer months somehow?? I think Waz just got very "excited" no matter where he was mind you.

He was a bit of a brain box as he did one degree and still not satisfied with one degree in physics went on for another one. I actually met him years later when I was working in Boots and he was a stock boy there studying interplanetary physics.

Waz was a great guy and had plenty to say for himself. He may even be called Dr Akbar these days. Always had a special way with the ladies and seduced a few of the McDonalds girls.

In 1994 we had a fancy dress day in McDonalds and Waz came as a terrorist. He terrorised customers into going supersize!!

I have just tracked Wasim down on Facebook. He is currently working as a Forensic Scientist these days.

MORNING has broken (his silence})

All round cracking crewmember and Ant and Dec fan fan STEPHEN MORNING got in touch to update his status as Glasgows number one in demand man about town:-

Okay so what I have been upto. If memory serves I left McD’s Dec 1996…after 4 years to deal with the Uni work and final year project. Graduated in July 1997 and got my first professional job Nov 1997 with a company called BancTec – an in house software development company that developed paper processing systems for the likes of Banks (Clearing Systems and back office systems) and British Airways etc etc. That was a great job and I loved it and I was with them for 4yrs. However my manager changed and the new one took a disliking to me as I was not a ‘Yes’ man and so they made me redundant during the financial problems with the Banks in the in the early 2000’s. But I did not complain as the redundancy package was fantastic and allowed me to take a year out.

After the year I joined the current company I am still working for – Atex Media Command. Again a Software Development company. This company is also fantastic and is the largest Multi Media Company for publishers and newspapers and magazines – we develop everything from Advertising, Editorial Content to distribution and circulation – basically we develop software that allows the newspapers to be produced and distribute their papers and get them out to the likes of you and me. Been working with Atex now for about 8yrs and it’s been great.

So started working with Atex in the UK and since my knowledge on Software Development and the product was great (if I do say so myself hee hee) the company asked me to come over to Malaysia and start up a new team here. So I rose to the challenge and came over. Originally I was only meant to be over for a year and then come back to the UK, but I loved the place so much I decided to stay. Since the company seen the advantage of me being here they agreed and I was transferred. So came over start of 2005 and been here ever since – approx 4-5 yrs.

Well since coming over there has been major development – fell in love with my fiancé Josephine and we are getting married next year – May 2010. We both have properties I have a condo she has a house….so as we are saving to get married we decided to rent my place out and we move in together and that will allow us to cut costs.

Since leaving McD’s I have not really seen any of the old crew. The only one I saw was Chick…and he was working in the McD’s on Great Western Rd as a FM still I think…. I have seen Mannus (Kev Callaghan’s younger brother) a long time ago and he was working in spec savers or something but not sure what he has been upto since I seen him last.

I remember coming in after I graduated and I was with possibly my mum and my brother and you were working the lobby – this was after the old crew room was moved upstairs to make the upstairs lobby bigger and I remember you saying come back and work!!! I still occasionally think of McD’s as it was fond memories….especially the fox and the hound every Friday and Sat night after your shift and going out clubbing…good old times.

I think one of my best outings with McD’s is between Blackpool pleasure beach or Alton Towers. Cannot remember specifics or names but was there not someone that went on the rides and got puked on and came off covered in spue…cannot remember the exact detailsL

Well since its taken me so long to add this to the blog. Stephen and his fiance are probably married by now. All the best to them. I just wonder if their first song was PJ and Duncans "lets get ready to rumble".

A certain Shawmeister has come across this website and got in touch. I was worried i may incur the royal Shaw wrath but he was happy to see what was written about him and left some more info for us.

The shady one retired from active Mcdonalds duty in 2002 resigning while I was in the bath and could not be bothered with the company shite anymore!!! i went to uni and got an honors degree in food science & Technology and won a scholarship to Bristol Uni to do an MSc in meat science. I now work in Tamar foods in Cornwall as their meat technologist! the life is fantastic down here with surfing and beaches. love the web site and hope others get involved. i am on facebook so look me up!!!"

I looked him up on facebook. There were over 500 Alan Shaws though. I'll find him!!!!

His Royal Shawness

"Shady", "Mr Shaw", "Alan", "Sir", "f&@* face".....whatever you called him you knew never to mess with him!!! The boss sent in to whip the store into shape - Alan Shaw!!

I had a wee look on "friendsreunited" and I think I have found his website there. Heres what it says he has been up to:-

"The stresses and strains of Running a Mcdonald's restaurant for 12 years took it's toll and Itook a step back and went back to University. I am currently completing a MSc at Bristol University in 'Meat Science'. I am due to Graduate from this course in February 2008, in the mean time I will begin looking for a job. I have been married twice and have 3 fantastic children Jordan 17, Martin 14 and Nikki 12. It is true what they say it's better second time round! I have a wonderful wife Andrea who is my true solemate. We were married on a beach in the Caymen Islands on the 19 of January 2002. "

Over the years various people get in touch to say hello and I'm usually the only person they speak to. I thought it would be a good idea to start up a Bebo page so that everyone could get in contact with each other. It'll be interesting to see how many people will add and become "friends"

Mick Muir does not sleep - he waits

More dependable than action man - Mick Muir got in touch. Mick was one of the 1st generation of the trongate crew. Reliable, dependable and didnt take any shit!!!

It said on bebo that this picture was taken in 1895. I dont remember much about Mick other than he was a good laugh and always cool. He was a one man singing sensation and had some great nights playing in the "oriental" bar across from McDonalds. I was a bit pished those nights but remember it was heaving in the bar.


Mick hasn't said what he was doing these days but rumours that he is trying it on as an amateur gynecologist could be true given the above picture. Sounds a bit fishy...probably smells a bit fishy also har har!!!!
