Pictures 1998
Ok Jumping from 1994 to 1998. Here are all my pics from 98 including my night out.
Some notes on the pictures:-
- Kev King and Gordon at Wrap and call. Kev as far as I know moved to Ireland and works in the music Biz. Gordon got his degree in string theory and is working out how the universe works. Still managed to go out with McD's no.1 pole dancer mind you!!
- Jane Kircaldy and Gillian, Jane is expecting and last I heard about Gillian she was a manager in McD's but I think she has left trongate now.
- Caroline. Caroline was the only crewmember who I started with who outlived me at McDonalds. Ashamed I cannae mind her name!! Last I heard she went on to being a classroom assistant.
- Sarah jenner, Me and Tracey McGarrity. Last I met Sarah was in Forbidden planet and was studying social working or something similar and Tracey was a full crewmember and not just a lobby host in McD's but she has left now and I dont know where to.
- Lorraine - Lorraine was a pure laugh. innocent wee girl when she started McD's. She went on to uni to do fashion. no idea what she is up to these days. Here she is stiking some classic poses.
-Kate from Lenzie strinking a pose on dressing big macs.
- crewroom full of unknown youngsters. near the end of my tour of duty there were many faces I can't remember. Martin was the one with his mouth open. He was a bit of a weirdo...in a good way. I mind meeting him doing a sales job in uddingston. His wee sister got a job in McDonalds in Bellshill and said he was away to London or somewhere but I dont remember what he did or anything.
- young Thomas pushing a load of fries or something. Thomas integrated himself uickly into the pub culture of McDonalds. I mind meeting up with Billy Murray and co one night only to run into Thomas and Barry from McD's the same night and all having a drink together but that was yonks ago. Note the clock in cards on the right hand side of that photo.
- Sarah jenner and friend changing a bin. Sarah was great and I remember her pal went out with one of the McD's doormen. Cannae mind her name though.
- Corrine, Mary and Shady Shaw. Corrine later became a manager and went out with an import from Springburn (cannae mind his name though) as far as I know they are still together today. Mary was a great lobby hostess. I used to love it when Mary was on as she was such a gossip and a laugh. I remember when she first started in McD's I kept asking her to come out drinking with us until her sister Charlene pulled me up by saying her sister was *# age and had two kids. I was gobslacked as I thought she was the same age as me. Shady Shaw needs no introduction!!!
- Cash for kids badges - if you had to suggestive sell them you know my pain!!!!
- Graeme McInnes - a cooler laid back guy you could not meet. became a manager but never lost his cool. I met him one day years and years ago drawing a building on the street next to central station. think he was training to be an architect or something. He had "ahem" relations with another manager at the time!
- George Park - the man the myth the legend. great guy. became a great manager and is now a bus driver. Married and probably nearly having kids...or lots of practise!!!
- young Ryan and Ruth McKnight - Young Ryan was a friend of the infamous shady Shaw. he was just a young lad. dont mind much else. Ruth was great. I loved talking to Ruth when she was on. She was into her gossip but didnt go overboard. She had two great kids. I rememeber her youngest son was allowed to choose an xmas pressie for her and chose a big ornamental cat from the barra's....it was accidently broken and Ruth had to pretend to be heartbroken over it. Last I heard she was childminding but that was a good while ago.
- washed out pic of heather speirs. Heather is still in New Zealand. is married and expecting her first child.
- plans for a Rib sandwich - when will they bring it back. that rustlers thing s barely keeping me going.
-Leaving night - most folks are accounted for here. I included my leaving card but didnt realise it would be hard to read on youtube quality. I'll post the pics of it somewhere so if you wrote a messageyou can see it again.
- First pic of leaving night - me Elaine and Sarah doonan. Elaine I saw a wee while back in argyle street McDonalds having lost a dangerous amount of weight. Elaine was a good laugh in McD's. I mind she had a thing with a lobby host... Barry... train... ahem!!! Sarah Doonan I have no idea about what she is up to. we had a brief relationship in McD's which ended in being friends.
- pic two - was his name cameron??? he had the 666 Tshirt on. I mind when he started and Karen singing his praises about how good he was in interview....then he began and somehow managed to become the most hated lobby host ever... by the establishment of course. He even had the audacity to grow a beard!!!! Then he played the system a bit and must have left. This pic was of him and his G/F.
- various pics from the night
-picture of one of my trainers by Marion McGunnigle
-theres a picture of me and lobby hostess Caroline there as well. I thought it was funny when she started as she had been coming in drunk for ages when she was going to the unders at Archaos.
-picture of Gillian, Me, Mary Ward and Natalie. Mary ward was such a great laugh. So full of life and really brought a smile to your day when she was on. It was pity she had some problems with others and had to leave. I mind the night we went to see "prisoner cell block H" the theatre production with Lily Savage and the real "freak" from the programme. we were running about an hour late to pick her up because of an accident on the M8. i was raging because of it but Mary was so great about it, it turned out to be a great night. She moved onto Burger King and I saw her a few times in ther but I think she has left now. I would love to see her again cos she was soo great.
-picture that starts off with sarah jenner on the left hand side. she is hugging Jane. Jane was a young lass when she started in McD's and ended up going out with Tony the doorman. Tony later became a fully fledged lobby host and crew memeber. Tony was a good laugh and right into his wolftones!!
- nightclosers - not that long before I left we stopped doing Crew closes and got the idea of night closers back in. here is a couple of the night closers from the time I left.
I used the Oasis song "whatever" as the lyrics "I'm free to be whatever I choose" reminds me of my time there. The Blink 182 song "man overboard" just because of the lyrics "so sorry its over"
